چکیده

Thermal decpmposition of 1.1-6.6 m aqueous perchloric acid at 295-322" yields oxygen, chlorine, and a small quantity of hydrochloric acid. The initial rates of decomposition have been measured, using a perchlorate ion activity electrode, and show 3.5 order dependence on the stoichiometric perchloric acid concentration; the corresponding rate coefficient and activation energy at 300.0" are 3.1 x lo-' tn-2.5 s-' and 84 kcal mole-', respectively. The order of reaction with respect to time is less than 3.5 and depends upon the initial perchloric acid concentration; this effect is due to acceleration of the decomposition by the reaction products, notably chloride ion. It is suggested that the ratedetermining step in the decomposition of aqueous perchloric acid is the reaction of two undissociated HC10, molecules to give H 2 0 , CIO,, and C10,.

THE KINETICS OF HYDROLYSIS OF TRANS-DIFLUOROTETRAMMINECHROMIUM (111) ION IN VARIOUS CONCENTRATED ACID SOLUTIONS

The rate of hydrolysis of trans -[Cr(NH ) F ] was obtained as a function of acid concentsation in perchloric, sulfuric and nitric acid at 3Q°C. The results have been analyzed by the treatment of Bunnett and Olsen. Values of the parameter ?in Olsen equation are consistent with the participation of water as a proton-wansfer agent in the rate-determining step. The Arrhenius plot for perchlori...

Study on the Thermal Decomposition Kinetics and Calculation of Activation Energy of Degradation of Poly(o-toluidine) Using Thermogravimetric Analysis

Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) analysis was employed to investigate activation energy (Ea) for the process of degrading of poly(o-toluidine) (POT) applying Horwitz & Metzger, Coats & Redfern and Chan et al., methods. POT was synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization method using Ammonium per Sulphate (APS) as an oxidant while Dodecylbenzene Sulphonic Acid (DBSA) and sul...

Kinetic, mechanistic and thermodynamic investigations on Iridium (III) catalyzed oxidation of D-Mannitol by N-chloro-p-toluenesulfonamide in perchloric acid medium

The present paper deals with the kinetics and mechanism of homogeneously Ir(III) chloride catalyzed oxidation of D-mannitol by chloramine-T [CAT] in perchloric acid medium in the temperature range of 30 to 45 0C. The reaction is carried out in the presence of mercuric acetate as a scavenger for chloride ion. The experimental results show first order kinetics with respect to the oxidant [CAT] an...

Effect of CO2 Partial Pressure on the Thermal Decomposition Kinetics of Zinc Carbonate Hydroxide (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In this work, the effect of carbon dioxide partial pressure on the calcination kinetics of high purity zinc carbonate hydroxide has been studied. Non-isothermal analysis has been performed on samples at different CO2 partial pressures by TGA and DTA. It has been found that the calcination behaviour of this material corresponds to the shrinking core model and the reaction mechanism is phase boun...

Preparation and Thermal Decomposition Kinetics of Copper(II) Complex with 1-(6-Hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)butane-1,3-dione

A complex of Cu(II) with 1-(6-HydroxyNaphthalen-2-yl) Butane-1,3-Dione (HNBD) was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV and DTA-TG-DTG techniques.    IR spectra as well as UV-visible absorption measurements indicated that Cu(II) ion was coordinated to the HNBD ligand. The TG-DTA-DTG curves showed that thermal decomposition o...
